In contrast, social entrepreneurs use a triple bottom line that assesses the impact on people, planet, and profits. Social entrepreneurs foster transformational change through innovative and systemic approaches that will benefit disadvantaged communities as well as society at large.

Some consider it the Bible for social entrepreneurship. It profiles men and women from around the world who have found innovative solutions to a wide variety of social and economic problems.

Ashoka.org - Ashoka International is a global association of social entrepreneurs with system-changing solutions for the world’s most urgent social problems. They provide living stipends, professional support, and access to a global network of peers in more than 60 countries. Working with their global community, they develop models for collaboration and design infrastructure needed to advance the field of social entrepreneurship and the citizen sector.

Business for Social Responsibility (BSR.org) works with its global network of more than 250 member companies to develop sustainable business strategies and solutions through consulting, research, and cross-sector collaboration. Their research is working to advance the field of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the four areas of environment, economic development, governance and accountability, and human rights.

Net Impact is an international nonprofit organization with a mission to inspire and educate independent professionals and students in the use of business to create a more sustainable world. Net Impact members are current and emerging leaders in CSR (corporate social responsibility), social entrepreneurship, nonprofit management, international development, and environmental sustainability.

SkollFoundation.org - The Skoll Foundation's mission is to drive large-scale change by investing in, connecting and celebrating social entrepreneurs and other innovators dedicated to solving the world’s most pressing problems. By identifying the people and programs already bringing positive change around the world, the Skoll Foundation empowers them to extend their reach, deepen their impact and fundamentally improve society.

SocialEdge.org - Social Edge is a global online community launched by the Skoll Foundation. Its mission is to connect social entrepreneurs and their allies to discuss cutting-edge issues shaping the field, to foster frank dialogue, mutual respect and a sense of community among all in the sector, and to promote learning from both the most responsible and the most disastrous business practices.

SocialEntrepreneurship.Change.org is Change.org's social entrepreneurship blog. It carries deep insightful pieces covering social entrepreneurship nonprofits and resources on social enterprise, venture philanthropy, social venture capital, blended value, and much more.

Social Enterprise Alliance is a North American membership organization with a mission to improve society using the tools of business, seeing social enterprise as a primary engine for creating a more sustainable world. SEA engages its community of established enterprises with an advocacy strategy to help policy-makers understand the importance of social enterprise as a tool for tackling key social challenges and to design relevant policies and initiatives.

SVN.org - The Social Venture Network is a nonprofit network committed to building a just and sustainable world through business. SVN promotes new models and leadership for socially and environmentally sustainable business in the 21st century. They champion this effort through initiatives, information services and forums that strengthen the community and empower members to work together on behalf of their shared vision.
